Youth Beat is an organization that provides free digital media training to kids from the bay area’s lowest income neighborhoods. Their mission is to help inner city kids to get on a path that leads to success in college, career and life.
Youth Beat approached TBD* to help design a film campaign identity that truly amplifies the voices of the students and their intent. We created bold graphics and strong imagery of the student producers themselves to visually narrate the topics of culture, diversity and empathy explored in this student film. We wanted to create a design that reaches various audience members from the local people of Oakland, fellow students, or anyone who is simply moved by activism and the individual stories told by Youth Beat’s student producers.
“[The work] exceeded my expectations. The caliber of work that comes from the student designers is so impressive. The team that was assigned to work with our organization was so calm and present despite not having a ton of copy to work with. They really listened to the conceptual ideas and seemed to work instinctually while meeting the needs of our campaign seamlessly.” —Sagesse Graham, Program Manager for Youth Beat
