Blocks

Blocks is tackling the Bay Area’s housing shortage by installing prefab houses made from shipping containers in backyards with extra space. Low-income tenants have better options, while homeowners are provided with a little extra income and increased property value.

Blocks approached TBD* to address the design of a kit of products that creates a welcoming experience for new tenants. They wanted to stay true to their modern and minimal identity system but would still like to extend a friendly welcome to new tenants from more difficult walks of life. Rather than design each individual item, we created a flexible visual language as an extension of their existing identity that Blocks can adapt to their growing initiative. (Note: this was a proposal that eventually was not realized.)
